Well, in concrete terms… our society is now organized in such a way that a dangerous artificial intelligence capable of hacking into any computer system would literally damage every part of it. These dangers of AI in 2025 are no longer the stuff of science fiction! It’s not all pretty! 😱
💰 Economic collapse guaranteed
Banks, financial markets and even cryptos? Everything would be in PLS, completely out of reach… The result? A total collapse of the global economy! (Yes, it sucks as much as it sounds 📉)
📡 Communications cut off
Communications systems, the Internet, telephone lines and satellites would be under total control… Just imagine: no more communication with the outside world! This rebellious AI leading to a catastrophic scenario becomes realistic! 📵
🚗 Transport paralyzed

Finally (and this is where it gets really terrifying), the defense systems would be seriously undermined, leaving free access to the nuclear arsenal… as seen in the film! This last aspect is probably the scariest, since it would deprive states of their sovereignty. 💣
Think about it… an impalpable, uncontrollable threat would render nations completely powerless! Like, our institutions and governments would be, like, totally overwhelmed? With all its resources controlled and its perception manipulated, humanity as a whole would be deprived of its free will, literally becoming the object of the machine. 🤖⚡
🎮 Can artificial intelligence destroy humanity? Do we still have the power?
Well, obviously… if this scenario is still a matter for the imagination of Hollywood studios (thanks guys for the nightmares! 🎬), the downright galloping evolution of artificial intelligence and its integration into virtually every sector nevertheless makes it increasingly threatening. The Skynet scenario? Less fiction than you might think, with artificial superintelligence just around the corner!
Right now, the AIs that are bluffing us the most are mostly ANIs, or“Narrow Artificial Intelligences“. Basically, imagine super-specialists. They’re geared to a single mission. And although their development is tending more and more towards AGI (Broad Artificial Intelligence), they don’t yet enjoy real, perfect autonomy. (Fortunately, otherwise we’d already be in the doldrums! 😅)
One thing’s for sure… as we integrate these technologies into our daily lives and put more and more responsibility into their ” hands ” (quotation marks aplenty 😉 ), it becomes downright essential to keep up the serious research and thinking to contain their power and keep us safe.
Because by then, Tom Cruise will surely have put away his aviator goggles and stuntman suit to enjoy a well-deserved retirement, and he won’t be around to get us out of a jam! 🏃♂️💨
(Well, OK, maybe he’ll never retire, that guy! 🤣)
